We used up a number of rocks in making retaining walls. They're all over the place--back yard, front yard, septic area... just everywhere.

We still have to fill in the cracks, but Steve was nice enough to move the ones that weighed more than a ton for us.

We used what was left to make a boulder fence around the edge of the yard. It's to keep stupid people from tumbling over the cliff. Unless they're really really stupid. Then they're on their own.

Oddly enough, we had an unexpected problem. We actually started to run out of rocks. We had to space them out a bit more on the other side where there's a small access road for the well. (I wouldn't recommend driving on it unless you absolutely have to. It's a very narrow access, with nothing on the right but a nasty drop. The view out the passenger side window makes most of the workers queasy.)

How the heck did we ever run out of rocks?

Ah yes. There they are.

The well people came out today to do some tests on our water pressure. They made rainbows.

Ray told me that they pumped six gallons a minute for an hour and a half. The well level went down around three or four feet. I asked if that was bad, and he and the well guy just smiled indulgently at me. Apparently that means that we have a whole lotta water.
