Steve's partner Troy joined us as well. He got to use the jackhammer.

When they told us they had to bring one in, I thought they meant one of those single-person hand-held things. Nope.

This was a big scary thumper of a vehicle that blasted our remaining ledge into more manageable chunks--and more rocks for Steve's giant zen garden.

 

There's also more ledge that skirts our driveway in a suspiciously not-in-the-way way. It makes sort of a built in retaining wall right where we needed one. It's strangely cooperative of our old rival to not need to be blown up or crushed.

If we're very very lucky this is the last of it, and we can stop with the expensive surprises due to the fact that our house is built on a rock, and start enjoying the ample benefits of having a house built on a rock. It's not going to settle...
