Hey, remember this picture? This is the mailbox we installed just last week. Isn't it nice? Doesn't Craig look happy? Wasn't that a touching story about how we put it up and how much it meant to us and stuff?

Yeah, yeah. Reality time.

This is our first piece of mail, which arrived within two days of us pounding that post in. It's a property tax bill for $700 that we owe for the last year. Evidently they were just waiting for us to get a mailbox so they could pounce, because it was much too difficult for them to check with the zoning department (the one that's ever so inconveniently located in THE SAME BUILDING) to find out what our current address is in order to send us the bills in a timely fashion, enabling us to pay them off in more managable portions.

So, our very first piece of mail in our spiffy new mailbox was a nasty letter demanding to know why we didn't pay the tax bill that was never sent to us.

I love the bureaucratic process.
