Master Bedroom

This room was the first to be painted. Despite the fact that I had a deadline to get stuff done for the inspector, and that this wasn't one of the items on the list, I really wanted to do one room just for us--so we could feel like we lived here. I took a few days out of a tight schedule and painted the bedroom. I am really happy with the way it turned out.

I have to give credit where it's due for the color. I knew I wanted to do something with sage green in this room, but I was stumped as to what I wanted to do with it. I was at my friend Astrida's house, and she showed me the bedroom that she and her husband Stephen had done--in dark green and sage. I'd never thought of doing such a dark color on the walls, but as soon as I saw it it just clicked. I stole her color choice and even bought the same curtains. It's a bit different from their room, of course, but this one I definitely have to credit to someone else. I was just perplexed on the color until I saw their solution.
The super high walls gave us a place to put this massive painting that Craig did in art school. I think it's 4'x4'. I'm planning on some kind of tall potted plant or something in the empty spot to the right.
The room isn't quite done. We still have to unpack some stuff to finish the small decorating touches. This one wall definitely needs something. I'm still waiting for inspiration. I have a pretty good idea what I want to do, I just haven't found quite the right element. Whatever it is, it should cover up that paint seam that always catches the light. Incidentally, the little light spots you see in many of the photos are flash reflections that the digital camera seems to make. They aren't big blotches on the walls.
This is where we ended up. A bit unusual perhaps, but we like it--and unusual is becoming more the norm in this place. There's still a bit to be done in the way of moving in some more knickknacks, but I think the room is more or less finished.
