We had interviewed several contractors before we found Ray. We hadn't been happy with any of them. We'd toured a few houses and just weren't impressed with the materials or the designs. Craig had the idea to email his coworkers to see if any of them could recommend someone, especially someone versed in post and beam designs, which is what we were hoping to do. We got one enthusiastic response. This lady told us that she'd had a great experience with her builder, and invited us to come see her house if we wanted to get an idea of what his work was like. Craig called the number she provided for the company, and had a very pleasant conversation with Mr. Holmes. We discovered that he would do standard stick built homes, as well as the elusive post and beam designs that we liked so much. We also went to see the coworker's home. Even before she answered the door, I knew we'd found the guy. The house was incredible. It was unique, beautiful, and well built. Ray provided us with a list of everyone he'd ever built a house for over the last fifteen years, and invited us to call anybody. We called about eight before we got bored hearing "We LOVE him!!!" Nobody could say enough good about him, and I have to add my name to that list.
In the following pages, you'll read lots of funny essays about delays and other hardships of building a house. I would like to say here that NONE of those things were caused in any way by this company. Whenever there was a delay, it was usually related to the extremely harsh weather we had that year, and by the lot itself. Everyone that came into our home for whatever function was talented, professional, fast, courteous, and easy to deal with. I've heard horror stories about building a home, and I have to say that whatever stresses we dealt with while building ours, this contractor didn't cause them. In fact, I can't imagine getting through it without him. We now own a beautiful, graceful, well built house that is everything we'd hoped for. I couldn't imagine leaving this place, but if we ever need to build again Ray is the guy we'll call. We recommend him to anyone in the area as the best house building experience you can have. He'll go from design to finished product with you, and he won't let you down. If you want to build a home, call him. He's the contractor you're looking for.
